The Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen Global Platform;;[1] —  is a platform for First Ladies and Gentlemen to make a change through soft power, partnerships, public diplomacy, the exchange of experience, and the implementation of joint initiatives.

It is an initiative of Olena Zelenska, the First Lady of Ukraine, to bring together the world's First Ladies and Gentlemen.

History

[edit]

In 2021, the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, launched the annual event for spouses of the world's top leaders to share experiences and implement joint projects for the well-being of people on the planet.

The First Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen[2] was held on August 23, 2021, in Kyiv and explored "Soft Power in the New Reality". Its goal was to enhance the influence of each First Lady and Gentleman in addressing global humanitarian issues.

The Second Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen occurred on July 23, 2022, under the theme "Ukraine and the World: The Future We (Re)build Together". It was focused on the impact of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, emphasising the human aspect.

The Third Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen took place on September 6, 2023[3], and discussed "Mental Health: Resilience and Vulnerability of the Future". The event introduced the International Medical Partnership project, resulting in 25 memoranda on medical collaboration between Ukrainian and foreign institutions.

The Fourth Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen will be held in Kyiv on September, 2024, dedicated to the safety of children[4].

The annual Summits showcased the potential of cooperation and, in 2023, the initiative was transformed into the Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen Global Platform. Embodying soft power, the platform aims to change perceptions of First Ladies and Gentlemen through increasing visibility, partnership development, experience exchange, and joint initiatives implementation, creating a global network for effective responses to humanitarian challenges.
