History
[edit]Formation and Early Steps
[edit]Suggar Deads is a rock band founded in São Paulo, Brazil, in 2022 by Marcelo Uchoa and Vinicius Ventura. Initially, Marcelo played bass and Vinicius handled vocals and guitar. During the band's second rehearsal, Ricardo Guerra was recruited as the drummer, completing the initial lineup.
Lineup Changes
[edit]This initial lineup remained until Vinicius decided to leave the band. With his departure, Ricardo Guerra switched from drums to vocals. To fill the drummer position, Marcelo and Ricardo recruited Rodrigo Maraia as a guitarist and invited Pino, Ricardo's cousin, to join as the drummer.
Expansion and Adaptations
[edit]After several rehearsals, the band decided that two guitars would enhance their sound, leading to the addition of João Coelho as the second guitarist. With this new lineup, the band began working on compositions for their debut EP.
Recording the EP and Challenges
[edit]During the composition phase for the EP, Pino had to move to other State, leaving the band without a drummer. Despite this, they decided to proceed with the recordings. Felipe was recruited as the new drummer, but he did not participate in the EP recordings. To expedite the process, producer Aécio de Souza recorded the drum parts.
Releases and Initial Success
[edit]Suggar Deads recorded five songs and chose to release them individually as singles before compiling them into an EP. The first single, "Want It All!" was released as an introduction to the band's sound. The second single, the power ballad "Stella" generated significant buzz in the rock scene and achieved considerable success. This was followed by the releases of "Carry On" a reflective track, "Fucking Bitch" a fast and intense song, and finally "Letters," a commercially appealing track.
