The Subaru Rioma was a 2+2 coupe concept built by Subaru for the 29th Tokyo Motor Show,[1] and was marketed towards younger buyers as a vehicle that combined safety and sportiness.[2] This concept also showcased Subaru's Flexible Fuel Engine technology,[1] which allowed the engine to run on E85 fuel, which was not seen in consumer vehicles until 1996.[3]

Techinical

[edit]

The Rioma was equipped with a 2.0 L DOHC flat-four Flexible-Fuel Engine[1] which sent power to all for wheels via a dual-range all-wheel drive drivetrain.[2]

The Rioma's engine could run on gasoline, although with a lower power output than with E85.[1][2]

The Rioma was equipped with Airbags and 4-point harnesses.[1]

Design

[edit]

The Rioma's interior was red throughout, with the exception of the steering wheel and other trim around the driver's seat.[2][4] This bright red color extends to the engine bay, where both the underside of the hood and the engine bay's surrounding trim are in the same red color.[1][2][4]
