Steven Balson-Cohen (born May 12, 1957) is an American trial lawyer specializing in litigation and immigration law.[1] He is currently the lead attorney and counsel at Immigracion Pro LLC, a nationwide legal practice focusing on immigration matters.[2]
Early life and education
[edit]Steven Balson-Cohen was born as Steven Bernard Balson in Brooklyn, New York. His biological parents passed away during his childhood and he was later adopted by his maternal uncle Martin L. Cohen, taking the name Steven Balson-Cohen. He graduated from Yeshiva University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Government. He then attended the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University, earning his Juris Doctor in 1982.
Career
[edit]Steven Balson-Cohen has decades of experience as a trial lawyer, handling a wide range of legal cases. His practice areas include transportation litigation, professional liability, toxic torts, product liability, labour law, and criminal defense.
From June 2012 to October 2017, Balson-Cohen served as a Senior Trial Attorney at Russo & Toner LLP.[3][4] In November 2017, he assumed the role of Senior Trial Counsel at a prominent metropolitan-area firm, where he continues to work.
In January 2019, Balson-Cohen established the Law Offices of Steven Balson-Cohen Esq. also known as Immigracion Pro LLC, where he serves as the Principal Attorney, providing legal counsel across a broad range of practice areas. For a brief period between March and June 2021, he worked as Senior Counsel at Hickey Smith Dodd LLP.[5]
He has authored peer-reviewed articles, lectured on legal topics, and served as president of the Southern New York Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. His work is cited in court decisions and legal treatises.[6]
