Early Life and Education
[edit]Steff Gaulter was born in the United Kingdom. Her parents married in 1970. Her grandfather served as headmaster at Oak Park Secondary School, and after the school's closure, a road developed on the site was named Gaulter Close in his honor.
Gaulter grew up with one brother and one sister, Mark and Vicky. Mark has authored several mathematics textbooks, and Vicky is the Director of Financial Control for NHS England.
In 1987, Gaulter attended Highcliffe School, where she earned 10 GCSEs. She then studied at Brockenhurst College for her A-levels. In 1994, she was accepted to Cambridge University, where she obtained an MA in Physics.

She began broadcasting weather reports at BBC Bristol, where she covered regional radio stations including Swindon Sound, Wiltshire Sound, and Somerset Sound, and presented on the television program Points West. She also briefly worked with BBC South.

Square Raindrop
[edit]In 2022, Gaulter co-founded Square Raindrop[1] with fellow weather presenter Jo Wheeler.[1] [failed verification] The project aimed to deliver weather information in a more accessible and engaging manner, providing a light-hearted alternative to traditional, more formal weather reports.
