Draft:State Life Building

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The State Life Building, originally the Stevenson Building is / was at 15 East Washington Street in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana and was home to State Life Insurance. The 12-story 140,000 square foot building was built in 1898. State Life Insurance bought it in 1904 for $950,000. It was sold in 1968[1] and the State Life Insurance building at 141 East Washington Street was constructed for the insurance business in 1969.[2]

Architect Frank Baldwin Hunter had his office in the building. Architectural firm J. T. Johnson & Co. was also in the building.[3] The firm designed the Indiana Building for the 1915 Panama Pacific Exposition in Sam Francisco.[4]

Indiana State Library has a photo of it.[5]

Burned 1973? Appears to be a parking lot next to 9 East Washington on Google Maps?

Is this the same insurance company in this order? FloridaArmy (talk) 15:34, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
