Draft:Stagnist: A word describing someone who is stuck and intent on staying stuck.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Stagnist" is a term coined by Author, Jennifer Wilkinson Rynbrandt, who is also an editor at Conservatarian Press Publishing and the art editor for Sonder Magazine Online.

The term was coined on 7/2/24 from her laptop in Traverse City, Michigan.

The word "stagnist" describes an individual who refuses the possibility of changing one's approach, work, or accepted truth, despite it being a consistent failure. The "stagnist" is not open to any manner of constructive help/ consideration/ guidance from others, including mentors or folks with experience on that task or topic. The stagnist is opposed to admitting the need to change course or willing to change course despite numerous failures in that arena. The stagnist is unrealistic about their own knowledge base and closed to the ideas of others who might contribute to their present/future knowledge or success.

In the area of publishing, an green author who is not willing to make edits to a manuscript and believes it is already "perfect" despite a seasoned editor feeling it is not ready for print, is a good example of how a stagnist is willingly stuck yet refuses to utilize the professional or seasoned guidance of others.

A stagnist is stuck and willingly remains, stuck.
