Sonya Saamoor[1] (born 12 July 1995) is an Indian television actress. Saamoor debuted in Hindi television[2] and went on to appear in films. She made her television debut in 2018 with the show "Nazar,"[3] where she played the role of Daayan Ruby Rathod.[4] She is also known for her performances in television series such as "Kasautii Zindagii Kay (2018 TV series)"[5] and "Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki."[6][7]
Early Life
[edit]Sonya Saamoor,[8][9] originally named Shristy Gupta,[10] was born in Mumbai, India on July 12, 1995. She attended the Diocesan School for Girls, Auckland, New Zealand for her elementary and secondary education. She later pursued higher education at Harvard University.[11] Graduating from an IT program in New Zealand,[12] Saamoor moved to Mumbai to start her acting career.[13] Prior to acting, she gained initial exposure in the entertainment industry after winning a pageant, which led her into modeling.[14] In 2013, before starting her acting career, Sonya Saamoor won the title of Miss India New Zealand.[15][16][17][18]
Career
[edit]Sonya Saamoor[19] made her acting debut in 2018 with the television show "Nazar," where she played the role of Daayan Ruby Rathod. Following her debut, Sonya appeared in television series such as "Kasautii Zindagii Kay"[20] and "Shakti - Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki.[21] Her roles in these series further established her as an actress in the Indian television industry.[22][23]
