Draft:Sony WH-CH720N

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sony WH-CH720N is a model of wireless noise-cancelling headphones produced by Sony Corporation. Launched in 2023, the WH-CH720N is designed to offer a balance of performance, comfort, and affordability in Sony's headphone lineup.

Design and Features

[edit]

The WH-CH720N features an over-ear design with cushioned ear cups and an adjustable headband. The headphones are available in several colors, including black, white, and blue, and are noted for their lightweight build and foldable design, making them convenient for travel.[1]

Active Noise Cancellation

[edit]

The headphones are equipped with Sony's Digital Noise Cancelling technology, which uses microphones to detect ambient noise and generate anti-noise signals to reduce unwanted sounds, making the WH-CH720N suitable for use in noisy environments like airplanes and busy streets.[2] Active noise cancellation is a popular feature in many modern headphones, such as the Sony WH-1000XM4 and Bose QuietComfort 45.

Sound Quality

[edit]

The WH-CH720N incorporates 30mm drivers to deliver clear and well-balanced audio. The headphones support high-resolution audio and use various codecs including SBC, AAC, and LDAC to enhance sound quality.[3] The sound quality of the WH-CH720N is often compared to other models in the mid-range category, such as the Jabra Elite 85h and Sennheiser HD 450BT.

Battery Life

[edit]

A notable feature of the WH-CH720N is its long battery life. The headphones provide up to 35 hours of playback with noise cancelling active and up to 50 hours without it. They also support quick charging, allowing up to 60 minutes of playback from a 10-minute charge.[4] This is comparable to other leading models such as the Sony WH-1000XM4, which offers similar battery performance.

Connectivity

[edit]

The WH-CH720N supports Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless connections and includes a 3.5mm audio jack for wired use. The headphones also feature multipoint connectivity, allowing simultaneous connections to two devices, which is useful for users who frequently switch between a phone and a computer.[5] This feature is common in modern wireless headphones, including the Jabra Elite 85t and Bose 700.

Additional Features

[edit]

Voice Assistant Integration: The WH-CH720N is compatible with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. Touch Controls: Located on the ear cups, these controls allow users to manage volume, playback, and calls.[6] App Support: The headphones can be customized via the Sony Headphones Connect app, which offers various settings for audio preferences and noise cancellation.

Reception

[edit]

The WH-CH720N has received generally positive reviews for its noise-cancelling capabilities, sound quality, and battery life. Reviewers have noted that while the build quality is good, it is primarily made of plastic, which may feel less premium compared to higher-end models like the Sony WH-1000XM4 and Bose QuietComfort 45. Despite this, the WH-CH720N is often praised for providing excellent value for its price.[7]
