S M Sohel Murshed is a Bangladeshi-Portuguese professor and researcher at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon, Portugal. Prof. Murshed received his PhD in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Nanyang Technological University Singapore (a globally top-ranked university). He was a visiting professor at various institutions such as Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), New York, Imperial College London, and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), India. Previously, he also worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and University of Central Florida (UCF), USA. Prof. Murshed is enlisted in the rankings of World's Top 2% Scientists (both Career and single year impact lists) during last few years. Notably, he ranked 66th among 791 listed scientists from Portugal in the list for the impact of single year 2022.

Besides 12 books and 35 book-chapters he has so far authored/co-authored more than 230 scientific publications in leading international journals and conferences. Several of his papers have been classified as Highly Cited Papers by Web of Science (Essential Science Indicators).Several of his group's research paper received Best Paper Award in various international conferences. His current citation count is over 11000 (Google Scholar).

Prof. Murshed has received University of Lisbon's Scientific Award 2022 in the areas of Mechanical, Naval and Aerospace (Aircrafts) Engineering for his exceptional scientific contributions and impacts.

He has served as an editor of-Journal of Nanofluids (American Scientific Publishers) from 2012-2020 and is currently the Chief Editor of Frontiers in Thermal Engineering, an Associate Editor of Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry (Springer). He served as guest editor of special issues of "Nanomaterials" (MDPI). He is also member of editorial board of several other international journals.

Prof. Murshed is a management committee member nominated by FCT (Portugal) of European COST action CA21156: FOLIAGE (2022-2026). He was also management committee member and a group leader of European COST action, CA15119: NanoUptake (2016-2020). He is also a core team member of European commission's CIG project (NANOConVEX: 2020-2021). He has regularly been serving as an expert evaluator for the EC and for funding agencies of many countries across the globle. He also acts as an external reviewer for many international PhD theses like Imperial College London as well as about 40 international journals including numbers of top level ones like "Nature".

His main research interests include nanofluids, ionanocolloids, micro- and nanoscale heat transfer, nanomaterials-fluids systems, heat exchangers, microfluidics, renewable energy harvesting and storage, advanced energy and cooling technologies.
