Draft:Simons Summer Research Program

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Simons Summer Research Fellowship Program (Simons SRP)[1] is a national summer research program for high school students. Simons SRP is sponsored by the Simons Foundation and hosted by Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, New York. Simons brings together the best STEM students from around the country for the opportunity to conduct original scientific research, cost-free, for six weeks during the summer before their final year of high school. Students receive a stipend for their work and are required to receive a Nomination from their school to apply. The average acceptance rate is 5%. [2][3] The program is considered by Forbes to be among the most competitive high school summer programs in the Nation. [4]

The program has high success rates in external competitions such as Intel/Regeneron STS. In 2015, a Simons Fellow was named 2nd at Intel STS.[5]
