[edit]
  • Primary Education: Completed in Tepelena, 1952.
  • Secondary Education:
    • Qemal Stafa Gymnasium, Tirana (1953–1955).
    • 29 Nëntori Gymnasium, Shkodër (1955–1956).

Higher Education

[edit]
  • Undergraduate Studies:
    • Bachelor's in Geophysics from Lomonosov Moscow State University, Russia (1956–1961).[1]
  • Postgraduate Degrees:
    • Candidate of Sciences (Ph.D. Equivalent), Tirana, Albania (1978).[2]
    • Doctor of Sciences (Post-Doctorate Equivalent), Tirana, Albania (1987).[3]

Career

[edit]

Koçiu has over four decades of experience in teaching, research, and applied work in seismology and engineering. His career highlights include:

  • Postdoctoral Fellow, Missouri University of Science and Technology, USA (2002–2004).[5]
  • Coordinator of NATO and UNESCO projects focused on seismic hazard reduction and seismic risk management.[6]

International Projects

[edit]

Koçiu actively participated in seismic hazard reduction initiatives, including:

  • NATO Science for Peace projects, such as Quantification of Present-Day Tectonics in Albania (2002–2007).[7]
  • UNESCO-UNDP project Seismic Risk Reduction in the Balkan Region (1979–1985).[8]

Teaching Contributions

[edit]

He has delivered extensive academic courses and lectures, such as:

  • Global Tectonics, Missouri University of Science and Technology (2003).[9]
