Shy Murphy was a band located in Nashville, TN (originally from Houston, TX) until its disbandment. It began when Bryce Carter and Ryan Booth started writing songs in their senior year at Texas A&M University. In spring of 2004, Ryan worked at Sputnik Studio in Nashville, where Shy Murphy recorded its first and last EP titled "Honesty"[1]. Around that time Patrick Hunton began as the band's bassist. Shy Murphy's main influences at the time were Josh Rouse and Coldplay, but also include Nick Drake, U2, and Third Eye Blind. [2]The band broke up shortly after their CD's release in order for the members to work on their individual careers. Ryan is now a producer, director, and cinematographer in New York City, directing works such as Billie Eilish's "bitches broken hearts".[3] Patrick and Bryce are both now working and living in Houston, TX.
