Shringinari is a temple located in Harraiya tehsil of Basti district in U.P. It is situated 14 km north of Harriaiya.

History[edit]

It is believed that a temple at this place was established by Shringi Rishi when his wife Shanta Devi left her body and went to heaven in her memory.[1] An idol of Goddess Shanta is also installed here. According to various stories and folklore, when emperor Dasharatha of Ayodhya desired to have a son, he performed Putreshti Yajna at Makhauda Dham with Shringi Rishi to get a son.
