Shannon Hunt-Scott (born January, 27, 1973) is a philanthropic leader who champions progressive political and civic causes. She is married to Kevin Scott, executive vice president of AI and Chief Technology Officer at Microsoft.

Hunt-Scott has extensive experience in strategic planning, fundraising and execution of projects focused on social and reproductive justice, educational equity, social entrepreneurship, and civic engagement.

Career

Democratic Party Engagement and Donor

Hunt-Scott is an engaged member of the Democratic donor community and is active in fundraising to support Democratic candidates in local and national elections. She serves as West Coast Finance Chair for the Harris-Walz Victory Fund.

Hunt-Scott also serves on the Board of Advisors for Zinc Collective, which provides talent and technology resources to Democratic campaigns.

Rights Advocacy

Nationally, Hunt-Scott chairs the Political Action Committee and serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for Reproductive Freedom for All (formerly NARAL, Pro-Choice America).[1]

Hunt-Scott is also a founding member of the TransAction Alliance, a group of parents of transgender children who advocate for transgender rights at the state and national levels.

Scott Foundation

Hunt-Scott is the Co-Founder and President of The Scott Foundation, a private foundation dedicated to empowering young people in the Bay Area by providing opportunities and resources to advance educational equity, social impact education, social and reproductive justice, as well as civic engagement.[2]

Hillbrook School

Hunt-Scott is the Chair of the Board of Trustees of Hillbrook School, an independent, co-educational, JK-12 school in Los Gatos, CA.[3] She was instrumental in the creation of Hillbrook’s high school, and she and her husband founded Hillbrook’s Scott Center for Social Entrepreneurship to provide students with the inspiration and structure to effect sustainable social impact in their respective communities.

Early Life and Education

Shannon Elizabeth Hunt-Scott was born in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Her family moved to Central Florida when she was seven years old, and she attended Lake Mary High School in Lake Mary, Florida.

She graduated from Rollins College in Winter Park, FL and then obtained a Master’s Degree in History and Political Science from the University of Münster in, Münster, Germany. She later pursued a doctorate in history from the University of Virginia. She is fluent in German.

Personal

She married Kevin Scott in 2004. The couple have 2 children.
