Shamaeel Ansari was born in Karachi, Pakistan, into a family involved in business and publishing. Her father, K.M. Basheer, was a businessman, and her mother founded Heena, the first women's magazine in Pakistan. This environment influenced her interest in fashion and entrepreneurship.[2]

Shamaeel Ansari began her fashion career in 1987. She presented her designs at various venues, including the Hindu Gymkhana and the Orient Express at City Station in Karachi. Ansari was involved in the designer lawn market in Pakistan, collaborating with Crescent Group of Industries.[3]
