"Sexual (Li Da Di)" was the first official single from dance diva Amber's 1999 self-titled album. The track was written by Amber (under her real name Marie-Claire Cremers) with hit songwriters Billy Steinberg (Madonna, Heart) and Rick Nowels (Belinda Carlisle, Stevie Nicks). It was the first of a string of five singles from the artist to top the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart, followed by "Above the Clouds," "Love One Another," "Yes," and "The Need to Be Naked"[1].
The multi-remix maxi-single released in 1999, contained six versions, including the Thunderpuss 2000 club remix. The CD spent 17 weeks at #1 on the Dance Single Sales Chart[2].
Additional remixes of Sexual (Li Da Di) were released in 2000 on "The Hits Remixed". Amber released a re-recorded version in 2007 and still more DJ cuts surfaced in 2022 on the digital single "Sexual (Li Da Di) [Plasma Trance Remix - Extended] and "The Hits Remixed - Extended," a compilation of club cuts that were previously only issued to DJs.
In May 2022, Tommy Boy Records released the digital single "Sexual (Li Da Di)" as a teaser for the compilation album "The Hits Remixed - Extended," which was issued a month later. The single featured the "Plasma Trance Remix - Extended," which had never been previously released digitally. When the album dropped a month later, the "Deep Dish Cheez Whiz Remix - Extended." was also made available on download and streaming platforms for the first time.
