Seiichirō Hatori (羽鳥 成一郎, Hatori Seiichirō, born June 25, 1954), is a Japanese businessman from Ibaraki Prefecture.
He is the former President and CEO of SSP Co., Ltd., and the former President and CEO of Avon Products. He has also served as a Senior Advisor to the Chairman of Boehringer Ingelheim Japan.
Biography
[edit]Hatori graduated from Ibaraki Prefectural Sōwa Technical Senior High School and Tokyo International University (formerly International College of Commerce). During his time at university, he studied abroad at Willamette University. At the beginning, he could not speak English, so he recorded the lectures on cassette tapes and spent many hours in the library every day to understand them. After graduating from university, he completed a master's program in Southeast Asian Studies at Ohio University.
After completing his graduate studies, Hatori joined Avon Products, where he worked in the product planning department and other roles. He later held the position of division manager at L'Oréal Japan. During his time at L'Oréal, he was headhunted by Boehringer Ingelheim and appointed as an advisor. He then moved to SS Pharmaceutical, where he served in various executive roles, including Director of Sales, Director of Marketing, and Director of Human Resources and General Affairs. In 2005, he was appointed President and CEO. After serving as an advisor to the company, he became President and CEO of Avon Products in 2010 but resigned two years later in 2012.
