Seek the Northerner (B-Boy, Rapper, Music Producer)
[edit]Seek the Northerner is a ex-professional B-Boy (Breaker), turned rapper & music producer. In 2001 Seek won the Urban Games.[1] with his B-Boy crew Children of the Monkey Basket[2], and went on to compete in the UK B-Boy Championships[3] at Brixton Academy. This was a World Final which featured many of the best crews from across the planet . The Urban Games event was a qualifier for this competition. Members of C.O.T.M.B. went on to perform in music videos for artists such as Madonna, 5ive & Rudamental. The crew took many titles between 2001 and 2006 and were one of the front running teams in the UK.
Before turning professional as a B-Boy, Seek was already a part of DJ Woody's all element Hip Hop crew (M.E.N.T.A.L crew) which stands for Mind Expansion Near The Absolute Level. In 1997 Seek competed against B-Boy Mouse in Manchester. They would later team up to create the B-Boy crew Tron2. This meant forging Tron1 crew with Mouse's crew Funkadelic Jazz Breakers to create Tron 2.
Tron 2 were invited by Skeg to compete at his legendary club night Breakin Bread[4] in Brixton, London. The events featured the best crews from the south of England. Tron 2's reputation had managed to reach Skeg's attention, who invited them down to battle ay his night. Tron 2 quickly established themselves as a formidable crew and would be invited to many events including DJ Hooch's Funkin Pussy night at the Electric Ballroom. Tron 2 would go on to meet the crew Chunks of Funk at these events. Chunks of Funk introduced Tron 2 to Bad Taste Cru[5] and Mystery Machines, and all 4 crews combined to create Children of the Monkey Basket[6]
After his career in B-Boying Seek would move over into music production and rapping. Operating as a solo artist between 2006 and 2010. In 2010 Seek would join the crew Twisted Scriptures with Phix and Fil Evo. They would go on to release an album but split after 2 years. In 2013 Seek would create the crew BoothBoxers with his long time friend Morgz and they signed to Killamari Records[7]. They toured the UK until 2018 when Morgz decided to follow his interests around Drum and Bass music. Seek then operated as a solo artist until 2021 when he joined the crew T.H.E.M.
Over his career as a rapper and producer Seek has worked with many high profile artists including Scorzayzee, Chester P, Dr Syntax, Farma G, Blade, Dizzy Dustin, Leaf Dog of The Four Owls (High Focus Records) , Si Phili (Phi Life Cypher) , Deejay Random and Deejay Rasp.
Northentic Records[8] continues to put music out on all formats and has a steady stream of music selling across the world.
