Scarlet (Japanese: 果てしなきスカーレット, Hepburn: Hateshi naki Sukāretto, lit. 'Scarlet Without Limits') is an upcoming Japanese animated film written and directed by Mamoru Hosoda and produced by Studio Chizu. The film is set to be released in Q1 2025. It centers on a princess named Scarlet who can cross time and space, with action and romance elements.
Production
[edit]Hosoda stated the film will not use 2D animation nor "Hollywood-style CG", with him aiming for a different look. He also stated the film will have action and romance elements.[1] Hosoda is credited with directing, writing the scripts, and the original story; Studio Chizu is producing the animation.[1] Yuichiro Saito, Toshimi Tanio, and Nozomu Takahashi are credited as producers.[2]
Release
[edit]Toho is set to distribute the film in Japanese theaters in Q1 2025.[1] Sony Pictures is set to distribute the film internationally, with them planning to release the film in the United States in Q1 2025.[2]
