The SIU Prize is a biennial award organized by the Saigon International University (SIU) and sponsored by the Group of Asian International Education (GAIE). It recognizes groundbreaking research in the fields of Health Sciences and Computer Science made by scientists of Vietnamese origin or descent.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

History

The SIU Prize was first introduced in 2023.[7][8]

  • September 2023: The nomination portal opened for the inaugural SIU Prize in Computer Science.
  • December 16, 2023: The official launch event took place at the SIU Dienhong Theater and online, with participation from academics and scientists from the United States, France, and Australia.
  • June 1, 2024: The nomination list was finalized, and the selection process for the winning theses commenced.

The SIU Prize was created by the Founder Council of GAIE [1][2][3]

Fields of Award

The SIU Prize is awarded in two primary fields:

Prize Values

The SIU Prize awards a total of 10 billion VND[9][10][11][12], equally divided between the two fields. Each field offers:

  • First Prize: 2,000,000,000 VND and an 18K gold commemorative medal.
  • Second Prize: 1,000,000,000 VND and a silver commemorative medal.
  • Third Prize: 400,000,000 VND and a silver commemorative medal.
  • Honorable Mentions (2 awards): 200,000,000 VND and a silver commemorative medal.

Each recipient also receives a diploma and a sponsored trip to Vietnam for the award ceremony and international conference, with travel and accommodation included.

SIU Prize Medals

The SIU Prize medals depict Lac Long Quan and Au Co holding a torch, symbolizing the spirit and cultural heritage of Vietnam. The edge features Dong Son drum patterns, reflecting Vietnamese art and history. The year "2023" is inscribed to mark the prize's inception.

Nomination and Award Procedures
