Luis Ronaldo Rodríguez (born May 7, 1999) is a Mexican professional mixed martial artist who competes in the flyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Mixed martial arts career[edit]
Early career[edit]
Ronaldo's MMA career began on March 19, 2017, with a victory over Eddy Perez at the Warrior League 2 event WS2. He won the fight with a first-round technical knockout. He continued competing in regional promotions, accumulating 8 wins and only one loss, of which 5 of those wins were in the Jasaji Fighting League.[1]
He had his first fight in Lux Fight League, where he faced Dagoberto Ferreira on February 14, 2020, at the LUX 008 event. Ronaldo took the victory after several elbows.
On August 4, 2020, he was one of the competitors in the opening week of the fourth season of the Dana White's Contender Series, with Jerome Rivera as his rival. However, he lost the fight via unanimous decision.[2]
Lux Fight League[edit]
After failing to earn his UFC contract and winning a fight at the iFF3 regional event, Rodriguez returned to the Lux Fight League. He faced Cesar Vazquez on May 26, 2022, at LUX 022.[3] He won the fight via unanimous decision.[4]
Rodríguez faced Víctor Moreno on July 15, 2022, at LUX 024.[5] He won the fight via split decision.[6]
Rodríguez faced Jaime Londono on December 9, 2022, at LUX 029.[7] He won the fight via second-round submission after submitting Londono to a rear-naked choke.[8]
Rodríguez faced Angel Rodríguez on May 19, 2023, at LUX 032.[9] He won the fight after a doctor stoppage in the third round.[10] This would be his last fight in the promotion, as he subsequently signed for the UFC.
Ultimate Fighting Championship[edit]
In his debut fight, Rodriguez faced Denys Bondar on February 24, 2024, at UFC Fight Night 237. He won the fight via second-round submission with a rear-naked choke.[11][12]
