Rodoljupci is a comedy of Serbian writer Jovan Sterija Popović which was written in the year 1853, but published after his death. Rodoljupci was inspired by the then-recent dramatic event related to the Hungarian Revolution in Vojvodina and shows several characters who, depending on the change of the political or military situation, sided with the Hungarian revolutionaries, that is, Serbs loyal to the Habsburgs. Rodoljupci is considered to be one of Sterija's best texts, that is uncommon 19th-century satirical observations in the display of nationalism and patriotism as an excuse and opportunity to acquire wealth and other personal interests. It is often performed, and has been the subject of three TV drama adaptations.
