Rista Milenković, a native of Pirot, who moved from Pirot to Belgrade in the middle of the 19th century, where he acquired a huge fortune dealing through trade.
After his death, his wife Persa gave the entire family property to humanitarian purposes, and the building of the Mathematics High School in Belgrade is the endowment of Persida and Rista Milenković. During his life, Rista helped those in need countless times. Their names are among the great number of Serbian philanthropists of the 19th- and the first half of the 20th-century.
