Rise of kingdoms is a real-time strategy game developed by Lilith games, for mobile and pc in 2018.[1]

Development[edit]

Rise of kingdoms was developed by Lilith games. They wanted to "Make a simple but fun and aesthetically pleasing game"[2] It began as "Rise of Civilizations" Due to legal reasons, in 2019 Lilith Games changed it to "Rise of Kingdoms".[3] The games biggest feature was the infinite zoom, something that most games in the genre haven't done.[2][3] The games development is unfortunately mostly undocumented.

Gameplay[edit]

Civilizations[edit]

Rise of kingdoms has 14 civilisations.

At the start of the game you must chose one:

Rome, Japan, China, Korea, Britain, Greece, Egypt , Arabia, The Ottomans, Byzantiums, France, Germany, Spain, and The Vikings. Each civilization provides it's own starting commander, and it's own bonus.[4][5]

Online Multiplayer[edit]

Players are encouraged to join Ingame alliances. Players can also make their own.[6]

Players in alliances can chat to other players, partake in certain Ingame events, join Ingame rally's, among others.[7] Alliances can provide Ingame recourses. And may also allow players to enter Player versus player combat, a lot sooner. [6][7] The game allows you to play with other friends, and has an ingame kingdom chat.[2][8]

Game modes and events[edit]

Rise of Kingdoms has many game modes and events. Including a single player campaign.

Rise of kingdoms features a single player campaign, called the expedition mode.[9] The mode consists of 80 levels which are replayable, and are similar to normal in game battles. In the mode you can unlock Ingame commanders.[10] The game features other Ingame events, such as the wheel of fortune, where players can spend gems, an ingame currency, to unlock commanders.[11]

Controversies[edit]

Im 2019, rise of kingdoms was sued for "Promoting gambling, and other predatory behaviours", and also charges of False advertising, the lawsuit was not resolved.[12][13] In 2020 people discovered a disturbing ad for rise of kingdoms. In the ad, the woman was Raped and her options were "revenge, or Suicide" the ad sparked outrage as the demographic for these ads are minors. The ad was since removed.[14]
