Rill wash is runoff comprised of sediment which flows through rills. Rill wash is created when water flows through areas with large amounts of sediment from past erosion or dried rill wash. This water then forms or flows through already-created rills, hence the name. The flow of rill wash plays a key role in the removal of material from eroded areas. When the water in the rill wash evaporates, it can leave behind a deposition of the sediment carried.[1][2][3][4]
