An improvement of the Mannlicher–Schönauer is the Rigopoulos semi-automatic rifle was designed by Lieutenant Rigas Rigopoulos during World War II (spring 1941), incorporating modified and redesigned parts to enable automatic fire, and feed system 20-round detachable box magazine. Though approved by the Greek military to be produced in Volos, it never went into production, due to the German invasion of Greece.[1][2]
