Richard Zelniker was born and raised in Montreal, Canada, into a Jewish family. He attended Iona Avenue School and West Hill High School before relocating to Toronto for six years. He later moved to Los Angeles in 1989. Zelniker attended Loyola College and Concordia University in Montreal but did not graduate.
Career
[edit]Zelniker is an award-winning filmmaker known for his work as a writer, director, and producer. He has a career spanning over 35 years, with 24 years dedicated to directing and producing both long and short-form films. His notable film, The Vortex, features actors such as Billy Gardell, Jaina Lee Ortiz, and Jamie McShane and is distributed by Synkronized Distribution. A television adaptation of The Vortex is currently in development.
In addition to his film work, Zelniker collaborates with his wife and writing partner, Callie Nguyen Zelniker, on various projects, including the music-driven project B-Side and the genre thriller BFF. He is also set to direct Colette Freedman's screenplay, Rose-Marie's Baby Shower, produced by More Zap Productions & Management LLC.

Personal Life
[edit]Richard Zelniker was born to Dorothy and Seymour Zelniker. He has two brothers and two late sisters. He is married to Callie Nguyen Zelniker, and they have two children: Rebecca Zelniker, who attends UC Berkeley, and their son, who is currently a student at Notre Dame High School in Los Angeles.
