Draft:Rhombencephalitis

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rhombencephalitis is a broad term referring to inflammatory diseases of the hindbrain, an area of the brain which contains the medulla oblongata, pons, and cerebellum. Sometimes interchangeably used is the term 'brainstem encephalitis', however these are two different concepts, as the hindbrain is considered to encompass a larger area than just the brainstem, though it does include it.

Types of rhombencephalitis[edit]

The most common type of rhombencephalitis according to the [1] National Library of Medicine article on the term is caused by Listeria, to specify, Listeria monocytogenes, which causes listeria meningoencephalitis, also called listeria rhombencephalitis.
