Dr. Reza F. Saidi is a liver, kidney and pancreas transplant specialist for children and adults. He is currently the Chief of Transplantation at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, New York. [1] Dr. Saidi's main focus is kidney and pancreas transplantation in adults and kidney transplantation in children, including re-transplantation and transplantation in patients with complex surgical challenges. He also specializes in liver and pancreas surgery. He received his medical degree from the Medical School of Tehran University of Medical Sciences and has been working in this field for 19 years. He completed his transplant surgery training at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, under Professor A. B. Cosimi, former president of American Society of Transplant Surgeons. He then joined the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine. He was the Director of Pancreas Transplant program at the Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University and the Director of HPB Surgery at Shariati Hospital at Tehran University of Medical Sciences. As a surgeon at a university medical center, Dr. Saidi is also heavily involved in educating medical students and surgical assistants. Dr. Saidi participates in organ transplants at the national level and was a member of the Committee for the United Network of Pancreatic Organ Transplantation.[2] He has served on numerous committees in regional, national and international associations. [3][4]Dr. Saidi also researches the results of organ transplants, focusing on kidney and pancreas transplantation, kidney donation, transplantation, and liver and bile duct surgery. His research is on ischemia-reperfusion injury and transplant outcomes. He has published more than 100 papers in peer reviewed journals and 2 books related to organ donation and transplantation.[5] He is also one of the founders of Persian-American Medical Association (PAMA).[6]
