Draft:Revolutionary Communist Party (UK)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Revolutionary Communist Party (RCP) is a communist political party in the United Kingdom that seeks the overthrow of capitalism via revolution and the creation of a socialist federation in Britain.

Ideology

[edit]

The party identifies as a "Bolshevik organisation" that bases its ideology off the scientific ideas of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels.[1] It states that it takes revolutionary theory very seriously and uses the following quote from Vladimir Lenin on its website: "without revolutionary theory, there can be no revolutionary movement". It is very much focused on communist theory, which the party deems to be of upmost importance, particularly further reading and understanding of it by the working class. The RCP has a "theory" section on its homepage and it is part of the British section of the wider Revolutionary Communist International.

Policies

[edit]

The Revolutionary Communist party seeks to eventually overthrow capitalism completely. Its policies can be described as economically left-wing, as it has policies such as:[2]

1. Introducing a £20 minimum wage

2. Nationalisation of energy, rail, and water

3. Building one million council houses a year and nationalising all land, construction companies, and banks to achieve this

4. Supporting trade unions completely

5. Abolishment of the British monarchy and the House of Lords

6. The overthrow of capitalism.

The party also supports a world revolution that would involve a "Socialist Federation of Britain" that is close and cooperates with a socialist United States of Europe.
