Revived Soldiers Ukraine is an American non-profit organization that was founded with the goal of providing world-class medical treatment and rehabilitation to wounded Ukrainian soldiers.[1]. Since its inception in 2015, the organization has successfully launched several large-scale projects that have helped defenders of Ukraine in the United States of America and in Ukraine[2]. Revived Soldiers Ukraine is dedicated to providing comprehensive medical assistance to wounded soldiers, with a particular focus on prosthetics and rehabilitation[3].[4]
History
[edit]The organization was founded in 2014 by a former Ukrainian national track and field athlete and volunteer, Iryna Vashchuk Discipio. The organization was officially registered in November 2015. During the first few months of its operations, the Revived Soldiers Ukraine team chose to specialize in providing medical assistance to severely wounded defenders of Ukraine, with a focus on providing free prosthetics for wounded Ukrainian soldiers in the USA and rehabilitation in Ukraine. Over the past nine years, the Foundation's team has brought 96 wounded Ukrainian soldiers to the USA for treatment and rehabilitation[5]
In November 2018, a branch of Revived Soldiers Ukraine was founded in Ukraine, headed by Yulia Stashkiv. And in 2019, the charity launched one of its most significant projects yet - the "Next Step Ukraine" rehabilitation center in Irpin[6]. The center is unique thanks to its use of American equipment and specialization in neurorehabilitation for people with injuries of the central nervous system, such as brain and spinal cord injuries.
In November 2023, the organization built a second rehabilitation center, Next Step Ukraine in Lviv, and purchased and installed 27 new pieces of equipment from the United States and Europe[7].
The main source of fundraising for the charity's activities is the organization of charity events in the USA[8][9]. To this end, the Foundation has hosted a number of successful charity concerts featuring Ukrainian artists such as Jamala, Natalka Karpa, Oksana Mukha [10]. The organization utilizes the collected funds to provide medicines, payment for operations and prosthetics, and to support two rehabilitation centers in Ukraine.
