Renee Bruns (born February 21, 1984) is a disabled American female, blogger,[1] traveler,[2] activist, adventurer, and motivational speaker.[3][4][5][6][7] In 2023, she received a Guinness World Record[8] for 'most countries traveled in one year with a wheelchair.'

In her one year of travel to achieve the Guinness World Record[9][10], she traveled to 66 countries.[11][12] Throughout her lifetime, she has visited over 140 countries, all 7 continents, and all 50 US states.[13][14][15]

Early life

Renee was born in Maria Stein, Ohio and attended Marion Local Schools.[16] She was born with autosomal recessive multiple epiphyseal dysplasia - a rare skeletal disorder[17] and at an early age, she decided to visit all 50 states with her family, completing that goal in her early 20s. In 2022, she visited Antarctica and completed her goal of visiting all 7 continents.

Career

Renee earned her undergraduate degree from Ohio Northern University and her MBA from Capital University. She is a current online student at Business Science Institute in Luxembourg where she is working towards her Doctorate in Business Administration.

Renee worked in the insurance industry receiving numerous awards in her 20 year career, including a Breakout Award from Business Insurance magazine.[18] In 2022, she left her insurance executive role to travel the world.[19]

She is working towards visiting all 195 UN recognized countries and is an active member of the travel community. She won the NomadMania 'Against All Odds' award in 2022.[20] and was a keynote speaker at Extra Ordinary Travel Fest 2024[21] in Bangkok, Thailand. She is also a TEDx speaker, having taken the stage in 2024 at TEDxTullahoma[22][23]. Renee is an active podcaster appearing frequently as a guest on related podcasts.

Renee is an advisory board member at TravelAbility[24], serving as an activist for the disabled travel community. Finally, she is an ambassador for Free Wheelchair Mission[25][26] where she works to help people in developing countries receive free wheelchairs.
