Introduction

Rehan ul Haq is a prominent figure in sports. He served as the General Manager of the Pakistan National Cricket Team, replacing the experienced Mansoor Rana. He also served as the GM for Pakistan Super League franchise Islamabad United. He has been with the franchise since the team was formed in December 2015. In addition, he also served as the General Manager of sister franchises Hong Kong Island United and the Vancouver Knights.

Education

Rehan graduated from Lahore School of Economics (LSE) with a major in Finance. He was part of the football team and member of the debating team for LSE.

Career

Early Career

Rehan spent several years in sports media and journalism. His work with PTV Sports made him well-known in the sporting world, for both cricket and football. He was involved with PTV’s broadcast of the FIFA World Cup 2014, and subsequently appearing weekly on a football show entitled ‘Kick Off’ as an expert analyst. Rehan’s journalistic endeavours include writing for ESPNCricinfo as a freelancer.

Team Management

Rehan covered domestic cricket for TV and various publications, leading him to the post of Draft Analyst along with Hassan Cheema at Islamabad United before PSL 1, with the two eventually being appointed as managers of the franchise. Rehan has remained as the General Manager for all nine seasons of the Pakistan Super League, including their victorious seasons.

Rehan also served as the GM for Hong Kong Island United and Vancouver Knights.

In April 2023, Rehan was appointed as the General Manager for the National Men's cricket team. His first major task was the home series against New Zealand. He remained as GM during the Asia Cup and the World Cup. He was replaced after the World Cup along other management members.

He returned back to Islamabad United for the 2024 Pakistan Super League and won the title with the team.

Personal Life

Outside of cricket, Rehan ul Haq is a passionate sports fan and supports Real Madrid. He is also married and has a son.
