Rama Kant Agnihotri (born 21 December 1945) is an Indian linguist known for his contributions to General Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, and Sociolinguistics. He has proposed the concept of 'Multilinguality,' which challenges traditional notions of language boundaries and highlights linguistic fluidity. Agnihotri retired as Professor and Head of the Department of Linguistics[1] at the University of Delhi and is currently Professor Emeritus at Vidya Bhawan Society, Udaipur. Rama Kant Agnihotri was born on 21 December 1945. He pursued his studies in linguistics and later became a prominent figure in the field, contributing significantly to applied and sociolinguistics in India.

He also contributed to teacher training[2] and school education through NGOs such as Eklavya, Digantar, and Vidya Bhawan. He was the Chairperson of NCERT’s National Focus Group on the Teaching of Indian Languages.
