Rajani Dhakal
[edit]Rajani Dhakal (Nepali: रजनी ढकाल) (born August 13, 1971) is a Nepalese poet[1][2], essayist[3][4][5][6], lyricist[7], literary critique[8], researcher[9], editor[10] and scholar[11][12]. She has written several books on critique[13] and creative writing. She has received awards such as "Padmakanya Gold Medal - 1999," "Chhetriya Pratibha Puraskar - 2014," and "Nepal Biddhya Bhusan Ka - 2018" granted by the Government of Nepal.[14] She is an associate professor at the central department of Nepali, Tribhuvan University.[8][15].She was a member of Nepal Academy Assembly[16][17]. She has climbed to Everest base camp and Kala Patthar with 37 other women for climate justice[18][19][20] on March 8, 2022.

Early Life and education
[edit]Rajani Dhakal was born on August 13, 1971 (Shrawan 30, 2029 B.S.[14]) in Waling, Syangja, a picturesque district in Gandaki Province. She grew up in an academically inclined family that valued education, which played a significant role in shaping her passion for Nepali literature.[21]
Rajani completed her early schooling at Shree Himali Lower Secondary School, where she excelled in History and Nepali. She later moved to Jiri Higher Secondary School to pursue 7th and 8th grade. She then returned to Syangja to complete her high school education at Ranabir Janahit Higher Secondary School. Subsequently, she pursued intermediate level education joining Padma Kanya Multiple Campus[8] in Kathmandu, where she studied Psychology, Nepali, and Economics and graduated in 1993 A.D.. She later earned her bachelor’s degree in Economics and Nepali. Rajani did her Master of Arts in Nepali literature in 1998 A.D with a gold medal by becoming the college topper. She did another Master of Arts in Anthropology in 2002 A.D and Master of Philosophy in 2011 A.D. Later, she earned PhD in Nepali literature from Tribhuvan University in 2016 A.D.[21]
Her academic journey and upbringing in the closely-knit family[8] environment of Maitidevi, Kathmandu, with her father and her husband Samir Dhakal[21], deeply influenced her career as a university professor in Tribhuvan University[8][15].
