Raj Singh Kochhar (08 October 1956 – 13 December 2024) was an Indian businessman and political worker known for his deep-rooted connections to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and his significant influence in Haryana politics. Born and raised in Ambala, Haryana, Kochhar was a trusted ally of Sushma Swaraj, serving as her Chief Security Officer during her political career. Beyond professional ties, his relationship with Swaraj extended to familial bonds, marked by a tradition of mutual respect and affection.
For over 40 years, Sushma Swaraj tied rakhi to Kochhar, considering him her brother. This bond of sibling love continued until Swaraj's passing in 2019. After her demise, her daughter, Bansuri Swaraj, a Member of Parliament, honored this tradition, further solidifying the close familial ties between the families.
Kochhar's contributions extended beyond his role as a security officer. In the political sphere, he served as the Media Prabhari of the BJP's Ambala district, playing a crucial role in managing the party's public relations and media strategy. He was also known for his friendship with Rattan Lal Kataria, another senior BJP leader, demonstrating his extensive influence and connections within the party.
Raj Singh Kochhar's life was a blend of dedication to public service, unwavering loyalty to his party, and a cherished familial bond with one of India's most respected leaders. His legacy continues to inspire many in Ambala and across the political landscape.
