Rahul Narain Kanal (born September 25, 1985) is an Indian politician, youth activist, and social worker. He is the president of the "I Love Mumbai Foundation" and a core committee member of Yuva Sena, the youth wing of Shiv Sena. Kanal is also associated with various social causes and has connections with prominent figures in Indian cinema and politics.

Early Life and Education

Rahul Narain Kanal was born in Mumbai, India. He attended St. Stanislaus High School. and completed his higher education at the University of Mumbai.

Political Carees

Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray Era) Kanal began his political journey with Shiv Sena (UBT) and served as a core committee member of Yuva Sena, the youth wing led by Aaditya Thackeray. His role involved substantial civic responsibilities and public engagement.

Switch to Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena on July 1, 2023, Kanal joined the Shiv Sena faction led by Eknath Shinde due to dissatisfaction with Uddhav Thackeray's leadership.[1] In this faction, he leads social media campaigns and addresses political allegations.[2]

In 2019, Kanal announced his intention to contest the Maharashtra Assembly Election for the Bandra (West) seat, citing his knowledge of the area and experience in social service.[3][failed verification]

Tributes and Social Work

Salman Khan Tribute (2015) In 2015, Kanal dedicated his restaurant, 'Bhajans,' to Bollywood actor Salman Khan by offering a 90% discount on dishes.[4] He described this gesture as a tribute to Khan.

Ajmer Sharif Visit (2018) In 2018, Kanal visited Ajmer Sharif with Uddhav Thackeray to offer a chadar during the URS festival. He shared his participation in this event on Twitter.

Eid Assistance (2020) In 2020, Kanal assisted Salman Khan in distributing Eid kits to 6,500 families. He publicly thanked Khan on Twitter for his contributions.[5]

COVID-19 Relief Work During the COVID-19 pandemic, Kanal's NGO, 'I Love Mumbai,' ran a community kitchen providing food for 6,500 people daily, conducted sanitization, and distributed medical supplies.[6] His work during the pandemic was recognized by various organizations, including the Free Press Journal and the Mumbai Achievers Award.[7]

Being Hungry Initiative Kanal has been involved in the "Being Hungry" initiative, which provides food to frontline workers. Supported by Salman Khan, this initiative operates food trucks across Mumbai, distributing rations and kits during the pandemic.[8]

Animal Welfare Initiatives Kanal is also active in animal welfare. His efforts have been praised by Bollywood stars Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli.[9]

Personal Life

Rahul Kanal married Dolly Chainani on January 27, 2023. The wedding was attended by celebrities such as Salman Khan, Arpita Khan Sharma, Atul Agnihotri, and Abdu Rozek.[10]
