Crime
[edit]The massacre in Raštani took place in the early morning of 24 August 1993, in the Raštani settlement in Mostar, during the Croat-Bosniak war, after several hours of artillery fire, HVO units invaded the settlement and massacred 24 Bosniak civilians and 7 unarmed soldiers of the ARBiH.[3][4]
After entering the settlement, Croatian units, among which was the Prisoners' Battalion of Mladen Naletilić, known as Tut, who was convicted of war crimes before the Hague Tribunal, entered the houses of the residents one by one and killed the Bosniaks they found.[5][6]
Immediately after entering the settlement, Croatian soldiers entered the house of Uzeir Beglerović, who they immediately liquidated, after which they killed his wife Ćera, and three daughters, twelve-year-old Šaćira, twenty-year-old Edina, and twenty-five-year-old Fadila, who was in a different state. After that, they continued to kill other locals, among whom were the families of Žuškić, Ćišić, Dedić, Dumpor and others. Several children were also killed among the civilians. After the murders, houses were set on fire, and a larger group of Bosniaks was taken to the Heliodrom camp.
