The Quincussis (Latin quinque = five) is the modern name for a cast bronze coin that was minted during the Roman Republic. This coin is worth five asses. The ancient name of this coin has not been preserved.
The quincussis probably never played a role in Roman monetary policy and was replaced by the denarius shortly after it was issued. It was introduced at the same time as the Decussis. Only one type of this coin has been discovered so far, dating back to around 215 BC. Only one example of this type has been found to date. The head of the goddess Roma is depicted on the obverse, with the value symbol V (the Roman name for the number five) above it. On the lapel there is a prora pointing to the left, above which is the stamp.
