Purusottampur (also spelled in Odia as ପୁରୁଷୋତ୍ତମପୁର) is a town and a Notified Area Council in Champua, Kendujhar district in the Indian state of Odisha. This village has a total geographical area of 160 hectares. and mainly Oriya, Bangla, and Hindi are the local languages in the village. The PIN Code of Purusottampur is 758047.[1]

Geography[edit]

Purusottampur is located at 22°05′18″N 85°34′37″E / 22.0883°N 85.5769°E / 22.0883; 85.5769 [2]. It has an average elevation of 474 ft. The area of our village is covered by forests and found many trees that means variety fruits can find here like- Sal, Asan, Jamu, Arjuna, Kusum, Kangada, Mahua, Mango, Kendu.[3][4][5]

History[edit]

In 1842, Purusottampur Village was just a dream that became reality for village pradhan (Name: Sree Gangadhar Mahanta) a dedicated father of our village. The village pradhan (Name: Sree Gangadhar Mahanta) travelled the world in search of options that were not readily available or even considered realistic peace of mind for people and finally decided to settle here. By building on the village concept and adding their personal criteria, Purusottampur Village was born. Today, Purusottampur Village is a famous village and globally recognised.

According to the 2011 India census[6], Purusottampur had a population of 1,249. Males constitute 49% of the population, and females 51%.[7]

Politics[edit]

Purushottampur village situated under Champua block an,d N.A.C. areisrt of Champua Assembly constituency. It is a part of Keonjhar (Lok Sabha constituency).[8]

The current MLA for Champua (GE) Assembly Constituency is Minaskhi Mahanta, of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) party, who defeated Murali Sharma, a candidate from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).[9]
