Pinwheel Valley (formerly known as KAIS)[1] is a Jordanian-Canadian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer known for his blend of Indie Soul, Mellow Alternative Rock, and Folktronica.[2] His music is characterized by emotive vocal and intricate instrumentation, with influences from artists like Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, Ben Howard, Thom Yorke and Fink. Pinwheel Valley is the lead member of the band Pinwheel Valley and has performed at the Fengaros Festival in Cyprus.[3]
Career
[edit]Pinwheel Valley started his music career under the name KAIS. Born in Jordan, he participated in the 2014 Mayor of London's Big Busk and received a diploma in Music Production and Sound Engineering from Point Blank Music College.[4][5][6] During 2016 and 2017, he toured Vancouver, Toronto, and Seattle, gaining recognition through live performances and songwriting competitions.[4][1] He received an honorable mention in the 2016 International Songwriting Competition and was a finalist in the 2017 USA Songwriting Competition.[4][5]
In 2014, Pinwheel Valley's single "Your Superman" debuted at No. 13 on the US iTunes Alternative Chart[7][8][9] and was featured in Billboard Argentina.[10] Some of his tracks were also released under the artist moniker Tea Dragon, while others released under Nativalien.[11][12][13]
Formation of Pinwheel Valley
[edit]In 2023, KAIS rebranded his music project to Pinwheel Valley. His single "Take Me Home" (2018) earned him an interview on BBC Radio London. [4][1][6][14] In 2020, Pinwheel Valley joined the London-based sync licensing roster, North Note.[1][6]
Personal life
[edit]Pinwheel Valley is the founder of and operates Hot Soap Studios in Cyprus,[4][15][16] where he currently resides.[16]
Legacy
[edit]Pinwheel Valley has been recognized for his contributions to the indie rock scene. He is noted in discussions of the Music of Jordan for his influence in shaping the genre, particularly during his time as KAIS. His work has been acknowledged for its role in the development of the indie rock genre in the region.[17][18]
