Pala Pothupitiye or Somapala Pothupitiya (Sinhala: පාල පොතුපිටිය ; born 1972) is a Sri Lankan contemporary artist who won the Sovereign Asian Art Prize in 2010.[1]

He is known for beadwork and costume-making techniques of southern Sri Lanka and is one of the last artisans who practice the technique.[2]

Known for incorporating cartography and historical motifs,[3] his work critiques nationalism, religious extremism, and caste systems.[4]

Pothupitiye is a co-founder of the Theertha International Artists Collective and the Mullegama Art Center, where he supports art residencies and educational programs.[5]
