The Palmetto State Armory (PSA) X5.7 (also known as the PSA X57) is a personal defense weapon[1].[2] concept showcased at SHOT Show 2024.[3][1][4] It was designed by Palmetto State Armory (PSA), a US-based firearms company. It is chambered in the FN 5.7×28mm[1][2], a PDW cartridge originally designed by FN Herstal[5] for the FN P90 and FN Five-seven[5]. It uses the same system as the PSA Rock pistol.[6] It also uses the same magazines as the PSA Rock pistol.[6] It appears to mimic the appearance of a HK MP7[1][4], a personal defense weapon designed & produced by Heckler & Koch[7]

As of now, the X5.7 is still in development and has not yet been released. PSA is still collecting fan feedback to prioritize which prototypes to bring into full production[4]. PSA plans to release it in 2025[8], but no specific release date has been set by PSA.

Development & Timeline

[edit]
  • Showcase (Shot Show 2024) PSA debuted the concept for the X5.7 at SHOT Show 2024[9][2]. It was shown alongside other prototype firearms, designed to compete in the growing 5.7x28mm market. PSA collected feedback from fans and allowed them to vote on which prototypes should be prioritized for production.[4]
  • Development (2024-2025) PSA began the engineering and production process. PSA noted that the X5.7 was a "2025 project"[8]. However, small improvements / developments have already been made since it's first appearance at SHOT Show, January 2024.[3][8]
  • Estimated Release (around 2025) PSA aims to release the X5.7 (or at least a prototype of it) by 2025, according to their youtube video.[8]
