Gilbert College is Gilbert Academy? Was it ever known as Gilbert College? "Gilbert Academy was incorporated into New Orleans University in 1919. New Orleans University, along with Straight College, were the two higher education institutions for blacks in Louisiana during this period. After more than 60 years in Baldwin, Louisiana the school was relocated to New Orleans in 1935."[1]

Otto Kriege was an educator, college president, and public figure in the United States. He was German.[2]

He served as president of Central Wesleyan College in Warrenton, Missouri where he worried for fifteen years. He was afterwards elected president of Gilbert College-New Orleans.[3]

A. E. Perkins thanked him on the dedication page to Who's Who in Colored Louisiana, noting Kriege as president of New Orleans College.[4]
