Omid Abtahi (born July 11, 1972, in Ahvaz, Iran) is an Iranian composer, arranger, and music educator. He is known for his contributions to classical, traditional, and pop music, as well as for pioneering modern methods in music education.

Biography
[edit]Omid Abtahi was born on July 11, 1972, in Ahvaz, Iran. He began his musical journey at the age of 11 under the guidance of Mohammad Salehi, learning the basics of music. Despite family opposition and numerous challenges, his passion for music led him to enroll at the Tehran Music Conservatory in 1988. There, he chose the cello as his primary instrument upon the recommendation of his professors and studied with renowned soloist Mohsen Toyserkani.
Abtahi continued his education under prominent Iranian composers and musicians, including Kambiz Roshanravan, Sharif Lotfi, Farhad Fakhreddini, Fereydoun Naseri, and Fereydoun Shahbazian. He also explored traditional Iranian music under the mentorship of Asadollah Malek, Mohammad Andalibi, and Hossein Farhadpour.
He holds a Bachelor's degree in Music from Islamic Azad University and a Master's degree in Composition.
Artistic Career
[edit]Abtahi has been actively involved in a wide range of musical activities, including:
- Permanent membership in the Iranian Music House Composers' Association and the Cinema House Composers' Association.
- Member of the Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra, Tehran Philharmonic Orchestra, and Iranian Chorus Orchestra.
- Teaching music theory, composition, and performance at national music institutions.
- Performing as a cellist in numerous national and pop music productions since 1995.
- Publishing his music album Safar Eshgh (Journey of Love) in 1999.
- Organizing concerts for notable Iranian artists such as Homeira, Andy, Arash, Sattar, Moein, Shahram Solati, and Shadmehr Aghili.
As an innovator in music education, Abtahi has developed modern teaching methods in music theory, solfege, harmony, orchestration, and instrument performance for both classical and Iranian traditional music.
