Oliver Phommavanh (born April 18, 1983) is an Australian author, comedian, and former primary school teacher, best known for his children’s books that celebrate cultural diversity and humor. His work often draws on his own experiences as a Thai-Australian, and he is widely recognized for bringing multicultural themes to young readers in a relatable and humorous way. Phommavanh's debut novel, Thai-riffic!, was published in 2010 and has since become a staple in Australian school libraries. In addition to writing, Phommavanh is a stand-up comedian, performing at schools and festivals, using comedy to connect with audiences of all ages.[1]

He graduated from the University of Western Sydney with a degree in teaching and later pursued creative writing and stand-up comedy. Phommavanh's experiences growing up as a child of immigrants heavily influenced his writing, especially in addressing themes of cultural identity, fitting in, and navigating two cultures.[2]
