Occurrence is a New York based alternative pop band.[1]
History
[edit]Occurrence is composed of Ken Urban (electronics, synths and beats), Cat Hollyer (vocals, flute) and Johnny Hager (vocals).[2] They released their first album, The Past Will Last Forever, in 2016[3]

The Band's most recent album, Slow Violence was used as the soundtrack to a performance by the same name which was produced and staged at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in April of 2023.[5]
Critical Reception
[edit]The band has gotten a number of mentions and reviews in the press, some notable mentions are recorded in this section.
Occurrence's fourth release Slow Violence received several reviews. According to Punk Head Magazine,.[8] "Slow Violence is a tear-jerker"[2]. Find No Enemy called it "A tour de force"[4]
BroadwayWorld described their 2021 album I Have So Much Love to Give as "their best, most complete work yet, filled with both their most energetic anthems and tear-jerking ballads".[9]
About their 2021 song The Happy Years, Week In Pop said that "Occurrence bathes the viewer and listener in the light of an illustrious love that encapsulates the variety of tenets and testaments of what love is".[10]
