History

[edit]

Now 90s & 00s was first announced via a post on Twitter from a UMTV staff member on 4 June 2024. It hoped to reduce the amount of empty space when Magic TV shutdown as part of Channel Four Television Corporation's plans to become an online service.

It had test broadcasting before launch.[1]

On 3 July 2024, Now 90s and 00s officially launched. It has 3 on-air brandings. These are a blue Now 90s & 00s logo used on programming focused on both decades, a NOW 90s logo, reusing the former logo used for Now Rock, and a NOW 00s logo focused on 00s programming.

The channel is Universal Music Group's first channel focused on 2 decades.
