Draft:Novi kvadrat

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Novi kvadrat was a group of young comic artists in former Yugoslavia who were gathered around the weekly socialist youth magazine Polet in Zagreb.

History

[edit]

The group was active from 1976 to 1979, after which the artists went on to pursue their own careers. They were inspired by new trends, foremostly from French and Italian comic artists like Moebius and Hugo Pratt, among others.[1] In those three years the members of Novi kvadrat published a number of short comics in various periodicals in Yugoslavia and organized about ten exhibitions.[2] . The name Novi kvadrat means "The New Panel" in the Serbo-Croatian language. The core members of the group were Radovan Devlić, Mirko Ilić, Igor Kordej, Ninoslav Kunc, Joško Marušić and Krešimir Zimonić. [3]
